WIMBLEDON POSTER
Steve Gulla, principal of Gulla Design, was one of three winners in the Wimbledon Poster Contest in 2014. The competition was open to everyone in North and South America. The design was featured in the official program of Wimbledon. The contest was a joint undertaking between ESPN and Wimbledon. When all submissions were entered, representatives from the All England Lawn Tennis Club and ESPN got together to narrow the field down to the top 25 contenders. During ESPN’s coverage of the Sony Open from Key Biscayne, Fla., fans were encouraged to vote on ESPN.com to help determine the ten finalists. Our poster was among the top ten.
The official Wimbledon poster has been a commemorative part of Wimbledon history since 1894, and became particularly famous when it was featured throughout the London Tube network, according to the Wimbledon home page.
“This is yet another unique opportunity for American fans of one of the greatest sporting events in the world,” said Jason Bernstein, ESPN senior director, programming and acquisitions. “We promised fans that Wimbledon would be showcased in new ways, and we’re delivering on that promise with this contest that allows fans to be part of a Wimbledon tradition.”
