PERUGIA TANKER
Ellesse, one of the world's first fashionable sportswear brands, was formed in 1959 by Leonardo Servadio, an Italian tailor and charismatic personality who founded the brand in Perugia, Italy. He was known for breaking the boundaries between fashion and sport. With their roots in the professional sporting world, Ellesse continues to reinvent the concept of fashion sportswear with new product designs.
The Ellesse Design Council hosted a contest that was open to designers throughout the world. The contest requested new designs for their legendary Tanker tennis shoe. Since Ellesse's origins go back to Perugia, Italy, I created a rendering of the map of the city and wrapped it around the shoe. I highlighted via M. Agneloni, the street of the first factory. I also used the town color (red) and created an original griffin, since the Perugian flag contains a griffin.
